This series of films made by video artist Zina Saro-Wiwa is a documentation of her local community in the Niger Delta. Each film has a central character and dish, the subjects face the camera while eating; the sound of their chewing and swallowing contrasts with the relative silence of the everyday task of surviving. What better way to survive as an artist than to nourish the self? Kareem Reid is a writer and founder of Body Party (est. 2015). Reid studied Film and Literature at University of Warwick. His critical essays, club nights and video installations have been featured in institutions Research Centre for Material Culture, (Leiden, Netherlands) and Tate Britain (London) as well as London and New York based publications Dazed, i-D, British Film Institute, The Fader, Temporary Art Review and ARTS.BLACK. He has been selected for the 2018 edition of Glasgow International and is currently studying Writing at Royal College of Art. - Kareem Reid
