As they watched, images of their own clandestine subculture — computer keyboards encrusted with cornflakes and cigarette butts, snatches of hentai porn, people wearing animal costumes (aka ‘furries’) and a suicidal man with pants on his head — were reflected back at them. “Aw shit we #META now,” said one user.
