Oneohtrix Point Never: 'Computer Vision'

Legend has it Daniel Lopatin came up with his primary choice of alias while lying in a dentist’s chair, slowly coming round from a dose of novocaine to the sound of a radio tuned to Boston indie rock station Magic 106.7, which he misheard as ‘oneohtrix point never’. True or not, the story offers a suitable introduction to the OPN world, an environment tinged with crackling frequencies and dazed semiconsciousness, as seen and heard in ‘Computer Vision’. The track was included in 2009’s ‘Memory Vague’, a limited-edition DVD-R that became a touchstone of the genre soon to be known as vaporwave, thanks to its slow-motion vocal loops and hazy visuals.
