The Mundane Afrofuturist Manifesto

Los Angeles is a central and recurring character in the expansive work of
artist Martine Syms. In 2015 she created a documentary profiling interviews
with curator and founder of Black Radical Imagination, Erin Christovale,
founder of independent record label L.A. Club Resource Delroy Edwards,
author Tisa Bryant and video artist Nicole Miller. Throughout the film, she
reads from The Mundane Afrofuturist Manifesto referencing the work of poet
June Jordan, W. E. B. DuBois, Fredric Jameson and other revolutionary
thinkers to essentially re-conceptualize what it means to be Black in the
future.
