Avant-garde performance artist, musician and composer, Laurie Anderson gained widespread recongition following the release of 'O Superman'. Part of her United States Live, the experimental epic is a bizarre and humorous duet with herself and an answering machine. Anderson warns of "American planes", a comment on foreign policy but also a chilling foreshadow of 9/11. The single startled everyone (including Anderson) when it shot to number 2 in the UK pop chart. Here she is in the late 80s giving a tour of her immense home studio.
