HomeSick - FAKE

HomeSick's 'FAKE' is an exploration of nonphysical spaces and the uncanny valley, built upon a skeleton of looming synthesizers, punchy drums and artificial intelligence. Powered by modern machine-learning algorithms, 'FAKE' surrenders control of the visuals to the music itself, granting it the ability to control the 'face network' at its core. With every sonic strike, viewers are transported from one eerily-human portrait to the next, and granted an insight into how computers perceive us versus how we perceive ourselves.

Our faces betray our emotions; our health; our socio-economic information in a brief glimpse. Viewing 'FAKE' in its entirety may induce a unique sensation of overwhelm and enochlophobia (a fear of crowds) - a controlled insight into such overwhelm, and an opportunity to meditate on this response at its farthest reaches.

'FAKE' leverages HomeSick's unique understanding and intersecting of data science, electronic music, and digital design. The result is as unsettling as it is enthralling.
