Global Chaos

Producers, Ninja Tune founders and DJs Coldcut, aka Matt Black and Jonathan More, did more than make music. They were also part of a collaborative art group called Hex with Robert Pepperell and Miles Visman. Together they spent a decade creating interactive CDRoms, VJ tools, a whole cyberpunk take on software and philosophy, and cut & paste video works like this piece ‘Global Chaos.’ Hex exhibited in art galleries including GOMA in Glasgow and The Barbican in London. The collective originally collaborated on a video promo for Coldcut’s 'Xmas Break' in 1989 - the first promo made on desktop computers. Their DIY tech aesthetic, until the group split in 1999, was raw, excessive and intentionally lo-fi.
