Much of Cool 3D World’s output has a clear sense of humour, albeit a devilishly twisted one. Sometimes however, a creeping sense of malevolence is subtly apparent or displayed with shocking vulgarity. ‘Creation’ is an example of the latter, swooping through a series of increasingly unsettling visual vignettes linked by the constant presence of strangely emotionless figures in white smiling masks. Given the title, it’s easy to jump to conclusions as to what Baken & Tessler are trying to say here. Feel free to. “It’s up to the viewer to decide if there’s any meaning or not, and what they personally get out of it,” has been Tessler’s response in interviews when asked about any potential messages in their work.
