THE CARTERS: APESHIT

If Paris is still the city of love, then maybe Bey and Jay styling the Louvre is the sort of weird exercise they suggest in billionaire's couple's therapy.

There are some eye-popping juxtapositions at work but what does it all mean? It's all too easy to read into it all as a radical mission. Maybe they disrupting institutional space with Blackness? Maybe they rewriting the art history books? Maybe they are reworking gender? Of course there's something inherently political about the two biggest Black artists making art in the Louvre but the lyrics are saying something different. They brand-drop like trappers and revel in their wealth. It's probably best to avoiding reading too much in to it all (cc: every publication on the Internet), instead just sit back / go apeshit to the sheer opulence of this shoot.
