Black is… Black ain't

California Newsreel pay homage to filmmaker and LGBT activist Marlon
Riggs, who died aged 37 in 1994, compiling his rarely seen documentaries on
race, class, gender and sexual identities.

In Black is… Black ain't (1995), he interviews the leading California Black
intellectuals of the time, Barbara Christian urges us to “...get over the notion
that we can only be unified as long as everybody agrees, we don't achieve
freedom by those means.”

Riggs explains “AIDS forces you to deal with time, how can I communicate to
Black people, so they can start to see each other?”
